Peer Review Process

Our reviewing process consists of 7 steps with the aim of validating academic work, improving the quality of published research, and increasing networking possibilities within research communities.

  • Step 1: The corresponding author submits the manuscript to the journal via the online system. An automated email is then sent, confirming successful submission and providing a manuscript number, which is used in correspondence and to track the manuscript status.

  • Step 2: The paper is checked against the journal’s aims and scope as well as the author guidelines.

  • Step 3: The editorial board sends invitations for at least two independent reviewers for a blind peer review. Potential reviewers consider the invitation against their own expertise, conflicts of interest and availability.

  • Step 4: The reviewers are assigned to the manuscript.

  • Step 5: Each reviewer reply to the editorial board with one of four opinions:  acceptance, acceptance with minor modifications, acceptance with major modifications, or rejection.

  • Step 6: The editorial board considers all the reviews before making an overall decision.

  • Step 7: The editorial board sends a decision email to the corresponding author within 60 days:

  1. In case of acceptance, corresponding authors are sent an email with a link to a license form to assign copyright to the journal.  The paper will be compiled into an issue according to the journal’s issue schedule.

  2. In case of acceptance with minor modifications: constructive comments from the reviewers are sent to the corresponding author. Reviewers should expect to receive a new version within 30 days. Then the editorial board makes the final decision.

  3. In case of acceptance with major modifications: constructive comments from the reviewers are sent to the corresponding author. Reviewers should expect to receive a new version within 90 days at most. Then the editorial board makes the final decision.

  4. In case of rejection, reasons for rejecting the paper and reviewers’ comments are sent to the corresponding author.
